The Runathon is Wellington College’s annual charity event and holds the record for the most money raised by a student-led charity event in New Zealand. Founded in 1998, it has grown into a one-day, student-run event bringing together the school and wider Wellington community for a day of running and activities in support of a meaningful cause: funding an entire ambulance for Wellington Free Ambulance.

ABOUT THE RUNATHON

This year’s Wellington College Runathon will take place on Friday 13 March, bringing the community together for an exciting day of fundraising in support of Wellington Free Ambulance. The public is warmly invited to attend from 4:00pm–8:00pm, with live music, food stalls, games, and entertainment alongside the running events.
This year:

Why an Ambulance?
In 2026, the Runathon is proud to support Wellington Free Ambulance, the only ambulance service in New Zealand providing emergency care free of charge. Responding to more than 55,000 incidents each year across Greater Wellington, their work is vital to our community. In 2026, our goal is to help fund a brand new ambulance — with every donation bringing us closer to putting another life-saving vehicle on the road.
